Aeromexico Seat Size Guide: Dimensions for Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class Cabins

Everything You Need to Know About Aeromexico Seat Sizes

When booking an international flight, one of the most important factors to consider is seat comfort. As someone who flies fairly regularly for both business and leisure, I’ve had my fair share of cramped economy seats. This is why I always do my research on seat sizes before selecting an airline. In this article, I’ll answer all the common questions around Aeromexico seat dimensions to help you pick the right class of service.

Aeromexico Economy Class Seat Size

Aeromexico operates several fleet types, so economy seat sizes can vary a bit depending on the aircraft. However, in general you can expect around 31-32 inches of pitch (the distance between your knees and the seat in front of you) and 17-18 inches of width in economy.

From my experience, these dimensions fall on the narrower side compared to some other carriers. The seat padding is also fairly thin, which can make long flights uncomfortable. I’ve sat in economy on Aeromexico flights where my legs felt cramped during taxiing or turbulence. The limited recline doesn’t help either – you’re only getting a few inches of lean-back at most.

One plus side is that Aeromexico economy seats have adjustable headrests, which is a nice feature for getting support at different sitting angles. The legroom is also standard for this class of service. But if you’re tall, have wide shoulders, or simply despise snug seats, you’ll want to consider upgrading.

Aeromexico Premium Economy Seat Size

Premium economy is where you’ll find significantly more comfort on Aeromexico at a lower price than business class. The seats offer around 34 inches of pitch and slightly wider seats at around 19 inches. Legroom is noticeably superior compared to regular economy.

As someone who’s 6’1″, I can attest that the extra few inches of pitch in premium economy made all the difference on long flights to Mexico. My legs breathed a sigh of relief! The padding is also better quality for support. And while recline is still modest, it’s enough to get comfortable.

Headrests adjust like in economy. Additionally, premium economy passengers receive amenities like bigger IFE screens, priority boarding, and more spacious overhead bins. Some routes even offer complimentary snacks and drinks with the fare. Personally, I think it’s the best value if you want more room without breaking the bank.

Aeromexico Business Class Seat Size

As for business class, you can expect excellent standard dimensions of between 38-40 inches of pitch and anywhere from 19-21 inches of width depending on the plane. The improvements are dramatic versus economy.

From my professional experience as a frequent business traveler, these dimensions provide total freedom of movement. Stretching out fully is no issue. And with lie-flat seats on long-haul flights, you can even get some quality sleep!

Of course, amenities like multi-course meals, noise-canceling headphones, blanket and pillow also make business class a more pleasant experience versus economy. If your trip is for work or leisure and you have the budget, it’s well worth spending on for comfort.

Seat Size by Specific Aeromexico Aircraft

To give you a clearer idea of seat sizes based on Aeromexico’s fleet, here’s a breakdown of some commonly flown planes:

  1. Airbus A319: Economy is 30-31″ pitch, 17″ width. Premium Eco is 34″ pitch.
  2. Airbus A320: Similar economy and premium econ dimensions as A319.
  3. Airbus A321: Economy is 31″ pitch, 17″ width. Premium Eco is 34″ pitch.
  4. Boeing 737: Economy is 31-32″ pitch, 17-18″ width. Premium Eco is 34″ pitch.
  5. Boeing 787 Dreamliner: Economy is 31″ pitch, 17″ width. Premium Eco is 34″ pitch, 19″ width. Business is 40″ pitch.

As you can see, economy dimensions stay mostly consistent across the fleet. But business class and some premium cabins offer noticeable upgrades, especially on long-haul aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Using the aircraft specifics will help dial in what to expect.

Additional Tips When Booking Aeromexico Seats

A few other things you may want to consider:

  1. Check seat maps for exit rows or bulkhead positions which have more room.
  2. If you’re traveling with kids, book multiple adjacent economy seats for extra comfort.
  3. Consider top-of-cabin premium economy or business if available – their seats tend to have perks like more privacy.
  4. Book early for best selection of roomier upgrade seats versus last-minute deals. Options are more limited closer to flight dates.

And remember, while seat size is important, don’t forget to factor in other elements like in-flight service, amenities, bag allowance and total fare costs into your decision on class of service. Aeromexico generally offers good value across all cabins.

With any luck, following this guide will help you select seats ideal for your needs on Aeromexico! Let me know if you have any other specific seat size questions after taking a look.

FAQ

  1. How big are the seats on an Aeromexico flight? The seats on Aeromexico are pretty typical for an airline. If you’re flying economy class, you can expect legroom of around 30 inches and width of around 17 inches. This is enough space for an average person to sit comfortably, but it may feel tight on long flights.
  2. Do they provide extra legroom seats? Yes, Aeromexico offers seats with additional legroom that you can pay extra for. These are called “Preferente” seats and provide around 4 more inches of legroom than standard economy. They are located in the bulkhead rows and emergency exit rows, so you get a bit more stretching room. However, you’ll pay $50-100 extra depending on the route.
  3. Are the economy seats narrow? Unfortunately, yes – like a lot of airlines these days the standard economy seats on Aeromexico tend to be on the narrow side at around 17 inches wide. If you’re a bigger or taller person you may feel squeezed. However, the seats themselves are fairly comfy with decent padding. Maybe ask for an aisle seat so you have a little more wiggle room?
  4. How do the Aeromexico premium seats compare? If you shell out for business or first class on Aeromexico, you’ll enjoy way more spacious and comfy seats. Business class offerings vary but usually provide fully lie-flat seats around 21 inches wide with tons of legroom. First class is truly luxurious with spacious leather chairs that recline fully into beds. You’ll have a private “suite” with privacy and personal service.
  5. Are there assigned seats? Yes, Aeromexico uses assigned seating like most airlines. When booking your ticket through their website or a travel site, you’ll choose your specific seat. You can pay a little extra during booking to select seats with more legroom if available. Otherwise, seat assignments are done randomly at check-in.
  6. What if I’m too tall for an economy seat? If you’re really tall, above 6’3″ or so, economy class seats may be kind of tight and uncomfortable on long flights. In that case, it’s best to upgrade to a bulkhead or exit row seat with extra legroom if possible. You can also contact the airline in advance of your trip and explain your situation – they may be able to offer an upgrade for a fee due to your height.
  7. How can I get more comfortable? Beyond choosing the right seat, wearing comfortable clothes and bringing neck/eye masks, a travel pillow, and compression socks can help make economy seats more bearable. You can also get up and walk around during long flights to prevent stiffness. Stretching your legs in the aisle is allowed on most airlines.
